Lately Olay has been running a commercial based on generative AI. The premise is this: they re-age an old image of the consumer to match their current age and show how they look better in real life - obviously due to the use of (their) skincare products. Generative AI can fundamentally change how we interact with skincare, understand our skin and make better choices in our selection of treatments. This Olay gimmick is in my opinion doing the consumer a disservice by not providing anything of value or learning. If you want to read my critical take on re-aging generative AI and what it captures and what is doesn't (in a N of 1 trial) you can find it here: https://lnkd.in/dZZrAraC

Yes, let's start injecting AI into our work products *today* while Ai still does a terrible job with skin colors. That definitely won't have any adverse effects!More and more it's becoming clear that the training data is what matters most, not the intent. As an industry, we need to start shifting our mindset.#AI #AIEthics #HCAI #UXdesign

AI bias tests gloss over a crucial aspect of skin color-Jon PorterSony's AI ethics researchers are highlighting a crucial aspect of skin color in AI bias testing, advocating for a more "multidimensional" approach. While existing scales primarily assess the lightness or darkness of skin tones, Sony's researchers argue that they should also account for red and yellow skin hues. The current focus on one dimension can lead to unnoticed biases, particularly against individuals who don't neatly fit the light-to-dark spectrum. Sony proposes using the CIELAB color standard for a more automated, multifaceted approach. Google and Amazon have shown interest in Sony's research, emphasizing the need for more diverse and representative AI systems.#AIEthics #AI #BiasTesting #SkinColor #AIbias #DiversityInAI #MultidimensionalBiasTesting #CIELABColorStandard

Serious amounts of Botox? AI generated video's typically don't do a good job at generating skin textures so everyone looks like they've had botox.Until now,OpenAI have pushed the limits of what's possible once again with their Sora AI model, used for creating realistic video. In the video below (36 seconds in) you can see the AI has created a pretty convincing skin texture. The video isn't perfect of course - there are some issues with her hair as she's walking along in the zoomed out shot but it feels like Sora is another gigantic leap forward.Checkout some of the other videos at https://openai.com/sora#sora #deepfake #ai #video

Detect DeepFakes: How to counteract misinformation created by AIDeepFakes, incredibly convincing synthetic videos, have raised concerns about the authenticity of the media we consume. Kaggle's Deepfake Detection Challenge (DFDC) sought to address this issue, bringing together industry giants like AWS, Facebook, and Microsoft. The $1,000,000 competition aimed to spur innovation in detecting deepfakes and manipulated media. The Detect Fakes experiment provides an opportunity for individuals to explore and learn more about DeepFakes. Recognizing a high-quality DeepFake can be challenging, but we've outlined several key aspects to pay attention to:Facial Transformations: High-end DeepFakes often involve facial changes.Skin Texture: Check for unnatural smoothness or wrinkles, ensuring consistency with other facial features.Eyes and Eyebrows: Watch for shadows and verify if they align with natural physics.Glasses: Note glare and its consistency with the person's movements.Facial Hair: Assess the realism of added or removed facial hair.Moles: Examine moles for authenticity.Blinking: Observe blinking frequency for naturalness.Lip Movements: Check if lip-syncing appears natural. While there's no foolproof method to spot a DeepFake, these questions serve as a guide for those navigating this landscape. With practice, individuals can develop an intuition for distinguishing between real and manipulated content. To hone your skills, visit Detect Fakes and engage in the practice of detecting DeepFakes.Participate in the experiment athttps://lnkd.in/dABuKjra#deepfakes #ai #aisolutions #aicommunity #ai4good
